    What You’ll Be Doing

    The Controller is a critical business partner for all of the operational leaders located at our Wings Event Center (WEC) and Wings West (WW) locations (business units include the Kalamazoo Wings ECHL hockey team, Special Events, Ice Events, Concessions & Wings West Old Burdick’s restaurant).  This role is responsible for all finance and accounting functions and also manages the ticketing operations team for Wings Events Center.  This role provides a great opportunity to drive business improvements in a fun and fast paced environment!

    • Manage all day-to-day financial operations including:
      • Accounts payable: ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices
      • Accounts Receivable: Ensure accurate and timely collection of invoices
      • Payroll: Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll
      • Capital: Track and monitor progress of approved capital projects and spending vs. budget
      • Cash Flow: Ensure all operators and bank accounts have necessary cash funds, monitor inventory levels
    • Supervise Finance Admin and Ticket Office Operations Manager
    • Prepare monthly financial statements
    • Provide prompt analysis of month end results for operations, including business unit and department level analyses
    • Provide and/or validate reporting for Key Performance Indicators and incentive compensation including revenue tracking, sales team commissions, expense tracking, etc.
    • Assist with risk management including employer insurance, enforcing internal controls and safeguarding assets
    • Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Manage merchandise sales for Special Events; support Event settlements
    • Lead annual Capital and Operating Budget process and prepare detailed budgets
    • Serve as business partner to WEC & WW Leadership teams including performing Return on Investment (ROI) analyses, evaluating proposed events, setting pricing
    • Identify opportunities to improve business performance and influence business partners to implement and realize those opportunities
    • Participate and support GHG wide initiatives as needed


    What You Need for this Position

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
    • Five years’ in progressively responsible accounting and/or financial roles
    • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint (or Google Suite equivalents)
    • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
    • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communication skills
    • Occasional periods of standing, up to 8 hours per day
    • Able to lift 40 pounds occasionally
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed for events
    • Able to work in a fast paced environment
