What You’ll Be Doing

JOB PURPOSE:

 

Through the usual functions the Director of Sales will lead direct sales solicitation, book the most profitable business and exude excellent communication and leadership skills. This is a tall order- we need a passionate, energetic, collaborative, guest obsessed leader to set our organization and Event Sales and Services team up for success.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

  • Responsible for learning the GHG brand and strategy while understanding and supporting the GHG culture
  • Ability to collaborate with other leaders in multiple departments
  • Drive customer loyalty in order to grow share of the account by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience
  • Solicit, negotiate, and book new and repeat group business, guest room rates, meeting room rental, and hotel services that meet or exceed hotel revenue goals through various efforts (outside sales calls, telemarketing, mailings, referrals, property tours, networking, etc.)
  • Ensure accurate and complete use of the CRM system per SOP including recording all bookings, lost business and activities
  • Identify and pursue new and repeat business through proactive sales efforts such as targeted research, prospecting calls, visits, site tours, lunches, and networking events
  • Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies
  • Analyze sales and revenue management reports to identify trends and future demand opportunities
  • Monitor pricing, MAR and other minimums to ensure pricing is within an acceptable range based on available inventory, current sales/revenue strategies and market demand
  • Attend and contribute to all revenue and sales strategy meetings and calls
  • Participates in forecasting for revenue and expenses, conducting SWOT analysis, while recommending competitive positioning and annual/quarterly goals and objectives for team members.
  • Conduct ongoing competitor price and product analysis to ensure proper rate positioning and product offering relative to competition
  • Prepares annual marketing/business and budget plans
  • Provides ongoing feedback, training and development of team members
  • Responsible for recruitment, deployment and overall performance of sales team
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned

Qualifications

What You Need for this Position

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration, Business, or Sales
  •  Minimum of 5 years in progressive hotel sales with leadership responsibilities
  • Experience with Opera and Delphi preferred
  •  Strong analytical skills relative to impact on hotel revenues
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of revenue management principles
  • Ability to use revenue management systems to develop pricing and sales recommendations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Must have flexible work hours that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Driven by purpose, mission, values, and has sense of urgency
  •  Able to work closely with staff through strong communication and verbal skills
  • Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 10 hours or more
  • Able to stoop and bend
  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds from time to time
  • Able to safely work with potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment
  • Able to comply with safety and health code standards
  • Able to handle responsibilities that require repetitive motion tasks
